Multi Color Garden Sparkler no9

Multi Color Garden Sparkler no9
A truly beautiful glass garden sparkler. This is a totally one of a kind and completely handmade garden accent!  I hand make all of the glass lampwork beads in the piece.  Lampworking is a type of glass work where a torch is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flame working or torch working. Once the beads are made they are kiln annealed for strength and durability.

This sun catcher is oh so colorful! Every color under the sun can be found in it!   The lampwork beads are threaded along side a selection of glass seed beads and secured on stainless steel wire.  This wire is flexible and slightly bendable.  The beads sway in the breeze.  The wires are fixed to a copper tube. The copper tube is inserted into the ground.

These garden sparklers can be used indoors are out. Please protect them from strong wind, hail, snow or ice. They are glass and could break if dropped or left out in bad weather conditions. I keep mine outdoors.  I've had one in my rose garden over 2 years now and it's just as beautiful as the day I put it there.

The hardest part about making these is taking the photos! They are so hard to photograph.  Rest assured they are beautiful in every way.

The garden sparkler is about 16" in diameter.  There are 13 beaded wires.  The bead wires are about 17" long.  The sun catcher attaches to a 1/2" copper tube that is 5' long.  It will come in 2 sections that slide together.  Some assembly is required.  You will need to slip the copper tubing together in 2 places.  Pretty easy to do.  I will include instructions.  Keep in mid that you will need to push the copper tube into the ground at least 12" so in all it would be about 4'-5' completely assembled.  You could make it shorter by pushing it further in the ground.

About Me:
My name is Kathy Bankston, and I am a metalsmith and lampwork bead maker. All my items are completely handmade by me from start to finish. I do everything, from designing and sketching, to sawing every little piece out with a hand saw, filing and shaping, and soldering it all together. My glass beads are made from Effetre soda glass and are kiln annealed in my studio. Many of my items are one of a kind, only a few are designs that I will make several of, and even they are unique because it is made by hand each time.
Thank you for looking at my items. I hope you will find something that you fall in love with!
